Katie received her Bachelors of Science and Arts degree in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2023. She is primarily interested in the relationship between bilingual and racial/ethnic identity development in immigrant children and adults. In the future, she plans to pursue a graduate degree in social or developmental psychology.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Jonet Artis is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on the early language development of autistic children and children with other developmental disorders.
Ph.D. Student
Mine obtained her B.A. in Neuroscience and French from Vanderbilt University in May 2020. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (NACS) Program working with Drs. Rochelle Newman and Bob Slevc. Her research interests focus on language processing and acquisition, and she is particularly interested in the relationship between language development and music cognition.
Ph.D. Student
Kristin obtained her B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, followed by a post-bachelors research internship in computational climate science at Los Alamos National Laboratory. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (NACS) program. Her research interests include phonetic learning and cognitive representations of language.
M.A. Student / Graduate Assistant
Amy obtained their B.M. in Classical Voice Performance from the University of Miami in May 2015 and a B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Linguistics from Utah State University in May 2023. They are currently pursuing an M.A. in Hearing and Speech Sciences in the Speech-Language Pathology Program. Amy's research interests include acoustic phonetics, principles of motor learning, and gender cues in speech perception.
